East Azarbaijan draws record 2.6 million visitors in recent holiday rush
TEHRAN - East Azarbaijan has welcomed over 2.6 million tourists during the recent holiday period (August 31 to September 6), highlighting a surge in travel and tourism across the province, said a local official.
In a recent interview with IRNA, Ahmad Hamzehzadeh highlighted that more than 2.1 million people explored the province’s tourist attractions, with over 73,000 visiting local museums.
The influx also included over 761,000 vehicles entering the region, resulting in over 12 million vehicle movements within East Azarbaijan, he explained.
“Approximately 313,000 tourists stayed in official accommodations, while nearly 15,000 travelers used the province’s border terminals,” Hamzehzadeh emphasized.
Hamzehzadeh emphasized the impressive tourism activity and its impact on the local economy, underscoring the province’s appeal as a key destination for travelers.
East Azarbaijan is a province in northwestern Iran, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
