Age-old treasures recovered in Fars
TEHRAN – Authorities in Fars province, have seized some historical artifacts dating back to different periods, preventing their smuggling in Pasargad county.
“Acting on a tip-off from cultural heritage enthusiasts about the transport of antiques in Pasargad, a skilled team conducted a search of the traffickers’ vehicle,” the commander of Iran’s Cultural Heritage Protection Unit told CHTN, adding that the team recovered 28 artifacts, including coins, bracelets, and necklaces.
According to the Fars province’s cultural heritage experts, the recovered items are of historical value, originating from the Parthian, Sassanid, Elymais, and Islamic eras, Hasan Mehri emphasized. Although some artifacts, he continued, were genuine but lacked historical significance.
Commander Mehri also mentioned that two suspects were apprehended during the operation. They have been handed over to the provincial judicial authorities for further legal proceedings, he winded up.
