$72 million investment in 51 tourism projects underway in Taft

TEHRAN - Taft, an ancient city in Yazd province, is currently witnessing a significant boost in its tourism sector with the implementation of 51 tourism projects.

“51 tourism projects worth 43 trillion rials ($72 million) are currently underway in Taft,” Yazd province’s tourism chief said on Thursday.

 Seyyed Mohammad Rastgari detailed that the projects encompass a range of facilities such as hotels, traditional accommodations, ecotourism sites, and dining spaces, all of which are at various stages of completion, with progress ranging from 10 to 90 percent.

“To support these tourism initiatives in Taft, a total of 540 billion rials in loans has been provided.”

Rastgari noted that several of these projects are expected to be completed and operational within this year.

Highlighting Taft's rich cultural heritage, Rastgari mentioned that to date, 120 tangible and intangible cultural heritage items from the city have been registered at the national level.

Taft is surrounded by the Zagros Mountains and gifted with pleasant and clean weather, and lots of pomegranate gardens and that’s why they named it Taft!

Taft is situated in the west of Yazd province and there are a lot of pomegranates, peaches, almonds, walnuts, berries, apricots, cherries, apples, and grape gardens all over the city.

Most of the locals are farmers and gardeners, and Taft is a good region for breeding silkworms and honey production.
