Bridging borders: Sistan-Baluchestan calls for regional tourism harmony
TEHRAN – In a bid to boost Sistan-Baluchestan’s tourism and handicraft industries, the governor of the province has advocated for collaboration with neighboring countries.
On Saturday, during a meeting participated by provincial cultural heritage authorities, Mohammad Karami emphasized that Sistan-Baluchestan shined bright throughout the spring holidays, covering Nowruz and Eid al-Fitr, which testifies that the measures were in place.
Attributing the success to the hospitality of the residents and cooperation in the travel services committee, the governor pinpointed that the satisfaction of the travelers works as a testament to the joint action, provincewide.
“The province boasts numerous capacities,” Karami further explained. “Is capable of being a sought-after tourist destination.”
“There is no escaping this reality,” he continued. “That this goal is only achievable by exploiting the creativity of elites within the province.”
Engagement of the local people is believed to play a key role in the tourism sphere boost, according to the official.
Citing an example of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts administration priorities within the province, Karami stated that the measures are in progress to collaborate with neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Oman.
“Steps are being taken forward to fortify the partnerships,” the governor added. “Such as holding joint cultural heritage and tourism exhibitions aiming to showcase the provincial capacities in the field.”
He argued that such cultural exchanges are crucial for the economic and security development of the region. The official also urged the removal of bureaucratic barriers and called for accelerated permit issuance and better cooperation with private-sector investors to help overcome any obstacles that might hinder progress. Karami’s remarks were complemented by reports from the Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts on their plans and initiatives for the coming year, indicating a robust strategy to promote the unique cultural and artisanal capabilities of each district within the province.
