Tehran to host 1st Asian Cities Innovation Challenges
TEHRAN –The first international Asian Cities Innovation Challenges will be held in Tehran from April 24 to 26.
This event is planned by the incity platform in the Asian Mayors Forum with the aim of using citizens' creativity and innovation to solve urban problems and challenges across Asia.
It is a unique opportunity for Asian cities to investigate urban challenges and find solutions for them with the participation of citizens, startups, and city managers in a creative context.
By collecting real challenges from these cities, interested citizens will be brought together to solve these challenges in the form of innovative businesses by presenting their ideas, plans, and products. This event can improve the urban business environment.
The main objectives are reducing urban pollution, managing natural disasters and mitigating crises, reducing the effects of climate change, managing and protecting natural resources in the urban environment, managing waste, and reducing consumption.
It also aims at preserving green spaces and urban ecosystems, optimizing energy consumption and using clean energy, reconstructing public spaces, restoring historical buildings, recovering urban architecture, revival of urban cultural heritage, restoring worn-out urban areas, and managing informal settlements.
Smartification of urban infrastructures, digitalization of cities, smart architecture, improving urban health, equal rights for all citizens, improving all kinds of tourism in the urban environment, and optimizing the roads and passages are among other main categories.

Asian Mayors Forum
Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) is an international non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to expanding and exalting the relations and cooperation between mayors and city managers in Asia.
AMF aims to help cities develop urban and public diplomacy, knowledge exchange, technical know-how, and experiences of urban management as well as specialized cooperation between members and also strengthen the integration between the Asian cities, mayors, and citizens toward a better life.
AMF was created by the initiative of Tehran Municipality and the support of the Asian Governments and Parliaments and its first official meeting conducted in 2008 coincided with the inauguration of Milad Tower in Tehran hosted by Tehran Municipality with the attendance of more than 100 mayors and urban managers.
The founding belief behind the forum is ‘Asia for citizens, Integration for a better life’.
