An exhibition dedicated to the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin, opened at the Museum of Cosmonautics in the Russian capital. The event was timed to coincide with the cosmonaut's anniversary – he would have turned 90 on 9 March.

Among the exhibits "Gagarin. The Road to Space" there are both previously displayed items and those presented to the public for the first time. For example, the cosmonaut's uniform and briefcase. Next to them, you can see a helmet, gloves, certificates, diplomas, education documents, and other things that help to get in touch with the spirit of the time and the personality of Yuri Gagarin.

At the exhibition, you can also listen to fragments from his autobiography "The Road to Space". When creating the audio recording, selected passages of memories were voiced by Russian cosmonauts.

"To be part of his story is a great honor not only for me but for any cosmonaut. It is clear that we both flew into space, but his flight was many times more difficult than mine. We are following his path and it is already easier for us," commented Oleg Artemyev, pilot-cosmonaut, and hero of the Russian Federation.

"Yuri Alekseevich will forever remain for all those who knew him and for all those who are interested in our country's achievements in space exploration, a man alive, full of strength, energy, and a man who passionately strived for knowledge," said Yuri Gagarin's daughter Yelena at the opening of the exposition.

The exhibition will last until 1 September.
