Alborz seminar to spotlight museums’ role in tourism
TEHRAN – Alborz tourism directorate is set to hold a seminar titled “Museums’ Role in Protecting and Developing Tourism” aimed to underscore the significance of museums across the province.
The event, scheduled to be held on Wednesday, is also intended to reflect achievements gained by the synergy between various stakeholders of the local cultural scene, Mahdi Arbabnia, the provincial tourism chief, said on Tuesday.
“This collaborative approach, coupled with cooperation with cultural activists, underscores a strategy for fostering the cultural and touristic dimensions of the region.”
Emphasizing the essential role of museums in bolstering citizens’ national identity and the palpable demand among the people for the construction of the Great Museum of Alborz, the official considered it necessary to interact with government and provincial institutions and cooperate with cultural activists in this field.
Over the centuries Alborz province, situated in the north-central part of Iran, has witnessed the rise and fall of various civilizations which brings to light the region’s precious history.
The importance of preserving and showcasing this rich history is where museums come into play. The seminar, according to local officials, is aimed to promote the cultural and touristic landscape of Alborz province.
According to the last statistics revealed by province officials more than two million tourists have been accommodated annually in the Qom province, with an increase in arrival during special occasions such as holidays and mourning ceremonies.
