Mazandaran’s hospitality sector gains 400 extra beds
TEHRAN - 15 new hotel apartments and accommodation centers have been inaugurated in Iran’s Mazandaran province as part of the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations, which marks the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
The provincial tourism chief Hossein Izadi on Saturday highlighted the significance of these new projects, stating that they contribute to the ongoing efforts to enhance the tourism infrastructure in the northern province.
With the implementation of these initiatives, the province now boasts over 1,250,000 official accommodation units, including hotels, motels, hotel apartments, guesthouses, and eco-lodges, all geared towards providing services to travelers.
The recent additions include the opening of two hotel apartments and 13 eco-lodge accommodations during the Ten-Day-Dawn celebrations, resulting in the incorporation of 400 new beds to the overall accommodation capacity, Izadi explained.
The official underlined that this development comes as part of Mazandaran's commitment to expanding and diversifying its hospitality offerings for tourists.
The picture-perfect province has long been a highly popular destination for domestic travelers. Its varied nature features plains, prairies, forests, and rainforests stretching from the sandy beaches of the Caspian Sea to the rugged and snowcapped Alborz range, including Mount Damavand, one of the highest peaks and volcanos in Asia. More than 800 registered historical and cultural sites, 338 km of shoreline, mineral springs in jungles and mountains, waterfalls, and caves are among the major tourist attractions in the province.
Goal of attracting two million foreign tourists per annum
Last September, Mazandaran’s governor general announced a development program to attract more foreign tourists, saying “We have set a goal to host two million foreign tourists per annum by the end of the current Iranian administration [of President Ebrahim Raisi].”
In terms of having diverse and numerous capacities in the historical, natural, and cultural fields, Mazandaran is the center of the presence of millions of travelers from within the country, but the fact that these capacities have remained unknown for potential foreign travelers, Seyyed Mahmoud Hosseinipour explained.
