TEHRAN – The Vice Presidency for Science and Technology supports technological and innovative social projects and ideas in the field of health with the aim of improving the technological ecosystem and innovation in society with a special focus on vulnerable groups.

The vice presidency has called on startups, innovation centers, accelerators, creative companies, creative houses, and knowledge-based companies to present ideas to "improve the ecosystem of technology and innovation in the social field with a special focus on underprivileged areas, vulnerable groups, the disabled and the elderly".

Some 360 centers providing emergency social services are operating across the country.

Reducing inequality in the field of health through the development of innovative electronic services to facilitate access to health and treatment services, enhancing physical health in society, promoting public sports, offering medical, psychological, consultation, as well as rehabilitation services, particularly to the elderly, are some other important goals.

Fatemeh Qasempour, a member of the Parliament (Majlis), said in August that 60 trillion rials (nearly $214 million) have been earmarked for preventing social harm in society.

Part of these credits are spent in the field of women and family, she highlighted.

Meanwhile, 360 centers providing emergency social services are operating across the country.

The centers are working in order to control and reduce divorce, child and elderly abuse and protect the deprived.

Some 3,500 psychologists, social workers, and sociologists are working in emergency social service centers.
