TEHRAN – Iran participated in Tourism Expo Japan, which was held in Tokyo Big Site aka Tokyo International Exhibition Center from September 20 to 23.

Iran’s ambassador to Japan Morteza Rahmani-Movahed opened his country’s pavilion that featured travel destinations, handicrafts, traditions and rituals, Mehr reported.

Some 1300 travel companies from 130 countries took part in the event organized by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association.

On September 15, Tadashi Shimura who presides over the Japan Association of Travel Agents said, “Japanese tourists are more interested in monumental and historical buildings yet prefer eco-lodges to hotels.”

He made the remarks during a meeting with Rahmani-Movahed, when the ambassador proposed holding an exhibit of Iran’s handicrafts and tourism potentials in Japan.
