Roadmap seeks to support nomad women
TEHRAN – In a cross-sectoral cooperation a roadmap to address nomad women’s challenges and shortcomings will be drawn up, said Masoumeh Ebtekar, the vice president for women’s and family affairs.
In a meeting between Ebtekar and Karamali Qandali, head of Iran Nomad Affairs Organization and heads of some other related organizations the, officials made arrangements for training nomad women, helping nomad girls who had left school and developing nomad women’s health, Mehr reported on Saturday.
Supporting nomad women’s handicrafts and traditional arts was emphasized in the meeting.
About 35 percent of handicrafts made during the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2017) are created by the nomads, the report added.
Nomad women have a great role in preservation and utilization of environment and nomad women’s empowerment helps deal with climate change and preserve water and soil resources, Ebtekar the former head of the Department of Environment concluded.
