TEHRAN – An exhibition of Safavid-era carpets and rugs will open its doors to the public at the Carpet Museum of Iran on February 14.

The month-long exhibit is aimed to demonstrate how carpet weaving and designs evolved during the 16th and 17th centuries, CHTN reported on Tuesday.

Covering an area of 3,400 square meters, the museum boasts a treasure trove of some 2,000 Persian carpets that date from the Safavid era onwards.

The museum can be found at the northwest of Laleh Park in the heart of Tehran.
