Colorful Iran: Surtan ritual for bride and groom
November 30, 2017 - 15:8
In northern Mazandaran Province, neighbors and relatives of bride and groom hold Surtan ritual the night before wedding ceremony.
They provide some fruits, confectionaries as well as some groceries and dairies and put them on big decorated trays.
They place a volume of the Holy Quran, some candles and flowers in one of the trays, wishing a fortunate life for the couple.
Women put the big trays on their head and bring them to house of bride groom father.
They congratulate their son’s wedding and leave the place after eating sweet.
Various tribes and ethnic groups who live in different parts of Iran are just like colors, which make a great painting. Iran is home to about 20 ethnic groups who live in different regions of the country.
