Wildlife rescue and rehabilitation committee set up
TEHRAN – Iran’s Department of Environment has established a committee for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, the director general of the office for aquatic wildlife of the Department of Environment announced.
The committee is formed by a group of environmental activists who are members of NGOs, Majid Kharrazian-Moqaddam explained, ISNA reported on Sunday.
Last month, the Department of Environment signed a deal with a representative from NGOs to prepare a national wildlife rescue and rehabilitation strategic plan, he said.
The committee aims to hold educational workshops and train volunteers to rehabilitate injured animals, he added.
The committee is mainly tasked with monitoring and controlling wildlife road traffic accidents and diseases, he concluded.
