All-women tourism rally flags off in Tehran
TEHRAN – The first leg of an all-women tourism rally kicked off early on Wednesday during an official ceremony which was held at the foot of Azadi Tower in western Tehran.
Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization Director Zahra Ahmadipour and Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi inaugurated the race with a total of 25 initial competitors, CHTN reported.
Over 45 contestants are set to enrich the main section of the rally which is scheduled to be held in the northwestern city of Maku on May 21 and 22.
Maku and its surroundings in West Azerbaijan province are teemed with abundant historical places, natural beauties and tourist destinations.
A similar car rally was held under the auspices of the CHTHO to promote tourism industry on August 23-28 last year, starting from Tehran to Zanjan passing through Alborz and Qazvin provinces.
