Iran to host Intl. Festival of Tribes Culture
TEHRAN – The 10th International Festival of Tribes Culture will be held in the Iranian city of Gorgan from December 28, 2016 to January 1, 2017.
The event will convene diplomats, cultural officials, as well as regional performers, craftspeople, and artists from Iran and its neighboring countries such as Armenia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
The festival will embrace a wide range of regional arts, handicrafts, souvenirs, and tourist attraction exhibits, as well as dramatic, musical and ritual live performances.
It will revolve around Noruz celebrations, chosen as its central theme.
Back in November, UNESCO inscribed Noruz celebration as a collective feast of 12 nations on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Noruz marks the beginning of spring across a vast geographical area. It is celebrated on March 21st every year.
It is a common tradition for Iran, Azerbaijan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Iraq.
