Iran’s Samii inaugurates China International Neuroscience Institute
TEHRAN — Majid Samii, the eminent Iranian neurosurgeon and the president of the International Society for Neurosurgery, inaugurated China International Neuroscience Institute in Beijing on Friday.
“To open this institute we started to discuss the matter with the Chinese side in 2002 and after two years we finally reached an agreement and I myself was put in charge to establish this institute,” IRNA quoted Samii as saying in the inaugural ceremony.
Moreover, an exhibition showcasing works and services done by professor Samii over the past years was held before the ceremony.
China International Neuroscience Institute has some 500 beds and 14 operation rooms and teaches some 100 international students annually.
Owing to professor Samii, the center will also administer some special treatments which is a big step for China in neurosciences in the world.
Samii has been interacting with Chinese medical community for years and he was also awarded with the People’s Republic of China Friendship Award which is the highest award for foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country’s economic and social progress in 2007.
He also teaches at China Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University.
