“Fellow traveler” sets out to promote tourism codes among Iranian students
TEHRAN — The Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) and the Education Ministry signed an agreement on promoting tourism among students.
The document was co-signed by the CHTHO deputy director, Morteza Rahmani-Movahhed, and the education ministry, Hamidreza Kaffash, Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.
Being entitled as “Hamyar-e Gardeshgar” (literally meaning fellow traveler), the document is outlining a scheme to heighten the students’ and their families’ awareness of travelling in general as well as protecting and respecting historical, religious, and natural heritage of the country, in particular.
Shaping a culture of accountable tourism among the students, using local communities in developing tourism industry, familiarizing the youths with the historical and cultural heritage and rich Islamic civilization of Iran, building awareness of tourism sector, introducing tourism industry as a principal means of economic growth, lifting students spirit, promoting sustainable tourism by protecting natural and cultural heritage, and last but not least growing up a generation who are accountable and work cooperatively for tourism are of the possible outcomes of the aforesaid scheme.
The scheme is scheduled to be unveiled and executed nationwide over a ceremony to mark World Tourism Day on September 26.
As announced by the CHTHO the program is designed for both boys and girls in elementary and high schools nationwide.
