Brain-dead patient saves six lives in Mashhad

TEHRAN- The body organs of a 22-year-old man who was declared brain-dead, were donated and transplanted into six different patients with his family´s consent at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, IRNA reported on Saturday.
The kidneys were given to two women, aged 37 and 33 years old respectively, his liver was transplanted into a 31-year- old man and the corneas and parts of the skin were sent to Imam Reza Hospital in the same city to be transplanted into other patients.It was the 517th operation carried out by the surgery team in the organ transplant unit since it was launched around 2001.
