TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – "The reconstruction plan for Imam Hossein Square, as a significant and strategic plan in District 7 of Tehran, is being studied by a number of experienced experts and will be prepared soon," said the mayor of District 7 of Tehran.

Mayor Hossein Sadeq Abedin told the Mehr News Agency, "Imam Hossein Square is one of the strategic points of Tehran, which is, unfortunately, very problematic from the point of view of architecture and urban development. Therefore, as Tehran Mayor Ahmadi Nejad has said, the plan will soon be prepared by a number of urban development experts and consultants.

"According to the instructions of the Tehran mayor and with regard to the fact that Imam Hossein Square lies on the border of districts 7 and 12, the mayors of these two districts will cooperate in the reconstruction of this square. However, the main part of the research and implementation will be carried out by the officials of District 7. "The reconstruction plan of Imam Hossein Square is a general plan including all issues and problems related to this square. This plan is still in its preliminary stages. A public announcement will be made on the methods and details of its implementation as soon as it is finalized." He added, "District 7 of Tehran is facing many problems such as worn-out buildings packed tightly together and traffic jams, especially on the west part of Dr. Shariati Street and around Seyyed Khandan Bridge, where the problems are more complicated. We hope we will be able to take positive steps to reduce these problems with the assistance of Tehran's mayor."
