Leader Advises Armed Forces to Strengthen Their Faith

TEHRAN -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei here on Wednesday instructed military establishments in Iran to equip themselves with strong faith, religious and political insight, and knowledge about internal and external realities so as to get well prepared to defend Iran and the revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with officials in charge of the ideological-political organizations at the army and Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics that the ideological-political departments have been established to consolidate the armed forces' faith and augment their religious and political knowledge.

The Leader said the departments have gained many successes in cooperation with the faithful armed forces.

Ayatollah Khamenei said public trust and popularity of the clergymen are two main assets of the society in order to attain its main objective.

He said public trust had been the main reason for nation's alignment with the clergymen in shaping major political developments in Iran's history and in the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

He added that the public trust originates from the sincere efforts made by religious scholars, dignitaries, and clergymen in a matter of thousand years.

The Leader said wisdom and piety would guarantee strong public faith in the clergymen.

All officials, clergymen in particular, should fulfill the grave duty of wining their audience's hearts and minds, Ayatollah Khamenei made it clear.

He said by the grace of God, Iran's revolution has not been halted in its course despite many ups and downs, shortcomings and hostilities since its triumph. He added that the revolution continues treading its path with more vigorously towards its ideal climax.
