Iran's Exhibition in Riyadh Ends

RIYADH -- Iran's Fourth Exclusive Fair in Saudi Arabia and the first in Dhahran ended on Friday. The exhibition had opened on March 9.

Trade councilor of the Iranian embassy in Riyadh Ali Darianian said the exhibition was aimed at producing Iran's capabilities in the areas of industry and provision of technical services.

The exhibition, in which many Iranian companies could display their products, was vastly welcomed by the Saudi people, he said.

Many agreements were inked between the Iranian trade people and their Saudi counterparts, he said and noted that agreements were also signed between the Iranians and Saudi officials on cooperation in the tourist industry.

Some 77 manufacturers have put industrial and service and engineering products in the home appliances and textiles sector as well as handicrafts and foodstuff on show at the fair.

Iran's trade fair was held on March 9-15 was warmly welcomed by the citizens of sharqieh district.

The executive manager of the fair Hassan Olfat told IRNA the fair was visited so often that the individuals in charge of the pavilions hardly manage to respond to the visitors' questions.

An Iranian official said earlier Iran intends to hold more exhibitions in the Saudi cities of Dhahran, Jeddah and Riyadh.

He told IRNA that preparations to hold the exhibitions in Saudi Arabia began after meetings between Iranian and Saudi exhibition authorities during Iran's recent international exhibition in Dhahran.

He hoped that the assistance of Iran's Export Development Center would further facilitate the display of Iranian merchandise in Saudi Arabia.

The official underlined that attendance in exhibitions might help promote the export of non oil goods, creation of jobs and earning hard currency revenues.

The main goods displayed by the Iranian companies included foodstuff, handicrafts, construction stones, carpets, chandeliers, plastic wares, melamine, lead and zinc.
