Rafidah Calls For Upgrading Tehran-Kuala Lumpur Economic Ties

TEHRAN - The visiting Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Ms. Rafidah Aziz and Head of Iran's Plan and Budget Organization Mohammad Ali Najafi here Tuesday stressed further expansion of Tehran-Kuala Lumpur economic, trade and cultural relations. Expressing satisfaction over the current trend of bilateral relations, Najafi said that both Iran and Malaysia have the potentials to further upgrade bilateral cooperation.

He called on the two countries' officials to make efforts to sign new trade agreements, eliminate double taxation system, expand tourist cooperation and promote joint investment. During the meeting, also attended by two countries' ambassadors, Ms. Rafidah proposed formation of a joint trade, economic and investment committee to operate alongside the joint Tehran-Kuala Lumpur Economic Commission. This, she said, will encourage the private sectors of both countries to undertake joint economic ventures.
