TEHRAN New Syrian Ambassador to Iran Turki Mohammad Saqr on Monday held talks with Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on the latest developments in the region and the occupied Arab lands.

The ambassador briefed Rafsanjani on Syrian views about how to deal with the Zionist regime's provocations, IRNA reported.

Saqr conveyed the greetings of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Ayatollah Rafsanjani, the Iranian officials and nation.

He said that Iran's support for the Islamic Resistance Movement in Southern Lebanon had been effective in driving the occupation force from the Lebanese territories.

The ambassador said that currently world Muslims and the Arabs have faced a momentous opportunity to bring the common enemy to its knees through their solidarity and support for the Palestinian Intifada.

Rafsanjani said that Syria is on the forefront of resistance to the Zionist regime adding that Iran and Syria share common stance toward the campaign against the global arrogance and supporting the Palestinians' rights.

He said that the success of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement in expelling the Zionist forces from Southern Lebanon indicated the strength of Lebanon's Islamic Movement and hoped that Israeli aggressors would be forced to withdraw from Golan Heights and the Palestinian occupied territories soon.

Rafsanjani said that the so-called Middle East peace process has failed to bring peace to the Middle East, because the Zionist regime is a war monger and greedy and never wants to withdraw from Golan Heights and Qods al-Sharif.

The propaganda the Zionist regime launches about the Middle East peace process aims to divide Muslims, Rafsanjani said.
