MUNICH, Germany Alois Lipburger, chief ski jumping coach, 44, was killed in a car accident in Germany.

Ski jumper Martin Hoellwarth and former overall World Cup champion Andreas Widhoelzl escaped with minor injuries.

German police in the Bavarian town of Kempten said the car in which the three were traveling had come off the road and flipped on to its roof.

Hoellwarth was driving at the time of the accident. Lipburger, a former ski jumper who took silver at the 1978 world championships, was in the passenger seat.

Toni Innauer, director of Nordic skiing for the Austrian Ski Federation, said the Austrian Ski Jumping and Nordic Combination Championships due to take place in Villach next week had been canceled.

"The whole team is shocked. At the moment we are in no mood for a skiing celebration," he said.
