Greco-Roman wrestler Ahmadi wins silver at 2025 World Championships

TEHRAN – Payam Ahmadi of Iran lost to Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler Vakhtang Lolua 7-5 in the final bout of 55kg of the 2025 World Wrestling Championships on Friday.

Ahmadi defeated Ulan Muratbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan 9-0 in Round of 16. Ahmadi then defeated Artiom Deleanu (MDA) 8-0 in quarterfinals and Azerbaijan’s Eldaniz Azizli 3-1 in the semifinals.

The 2025 World Wrestling Championships are being held in Zagreb, Croatia from Sept. 13 to 21.
