TEHRAN – In a joint statement published on Tuesday, Iran, China, and Saudi Arabia condemned Israel for its October attack against Iranian territory.

Representatives from the three nations convened for their second trilateral meeting in Riyadh since Iran and Saudi Arabia restored diplomatic ties under China’s mediation in March of 2023.  

The participants included Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li, and Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Abdul Karim Al-Kharaji. 

The trio strongly denounced Israel's attack against Iran and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic. 

Israeli warplanes fired missiles at military installations inside Iran from Iraqi airspace on October 26. While the attacks failed to reach their objectives, they took the lives of five Iranians, including four Army personnel working for the air defense forces. 

Elsewhere in the joint statement, the three states also condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities. 

The Iranian and Saudi delegations reaffirmed their dedication to fully implementing the Beijing Agreement, emphasizing their continuous efforts to strengthen neighborly relations based on the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter and the Statute of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Furthermore, both Saudi Arabia and Iran acknowledged and appreciated China's constructive and ongoing involvement in overseeing the execution of the two West Asian countries’ rapprochement.

The People’s Republic of China, for its part, expressed its steadfast commitment to continue supporting and encouraging initiatives taken by Iran and Saudi Arabia aimed at further strengthening their bilateral ties.  

Additionally, the joint statement collectively called for the continuous provision of humanitarian aid to Palestine and Lebanon, cautioning that the ongoing cycle of violence and tension represents a significant threat to both regional and global security, as well as maritime safety. 

The three nations voiced their backing for a comprehensive political resolution in Yemen, emphasizing adherence to internationally recognized principles and the leadership of the United Nations. 

On Monday, Takht-Ravanchi led a delegation to the Saudi capital, where he engaged in separate bilateral discussions with El Khereiji. 

Their talks focused on enhancing and broadening bilateral relations across multiple sectors, while also reviewing and exchanging perspectives on the latest regional and international developments.
