Four Iranian Army personnel martyred in repelling Israeli attacks
TEHRAN - The Iranian Army has confirmed the martyrdom of four Army personnel who were killed while repelling Israeli attacks on an Iranian military site during the early hours of Saturday.
In the statement released hours after the attacks, the Army said two servicemen lost their lives while defending Iranian soil. The Army also promised to release further information regarding the incident as soon as possible. Hours later, the Army said two other servicepersons had been martyred.
The servicemen were identified as Hamzeh Jahandideh; Mohammad Mehdi Shahrokhifar; Sajad Mansouri; and Mehdi Naqavi.
Israel had announced earlier Saturday morning that it was targeting military sites in Iran. Footage taken by Iranian citizens has shown the country's defense systems intercepting unidentified projectiles in the air. The attacks targeted positions in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam. Iran says the assault has caused limited damage.
