IRICA calls on private sector to invest in customs
TEHRAN – In a joint meeting between the customs and agriculture committees of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), the director general of the Transit Office of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) called on the private sector to invest in the country’s customs to modernize their equipment.
In the meeting, which was attended by the representatives of the IRICA, the challenges that the customs are currently facing for storing, and clearing or exporting agricultural products that are perishable and must be exported under special conditions were discussed, the ICCIMA portal reported.
Speaking at the gathering, IRICA Deputy Head Payam Pishran pointed to the non-oil exports as the main driver of the economy and noted that only part of the exports process is handled by exporters.
According to him, executive bodies, logistics departments, legislators, etc. must all work properly so that the export can be realized.
