IRGC says no Iranian killed in Israeli airstrike on Damascus
TEHRAN – Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has denied reports that Iranian military advisors were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Damascus on October 8th.
The deputy for communications of the IRGC Quds Force has stated categorically that no Iranian advisor was present at the targeted building and that all advisors are safe and operating as usual.
He attributed the false reports to Israeli propaganda, adding that such misinformation has increased threefold since Iran's Operation True Promise II on October 1st. He warned media outlets against amplifying Israeli propaganda by disseminating unverified information.
The IRGC official also stressed that the Resistance front remains fully prepared to retaliate against Israel's "weak points" should the conflict escalate.
Syria’s government said the Israeli military launched three missiles from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights at the Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus. Seven civilians, including children and women, were killed. There was no immediate comment from Israel on the airstrike and it was not immediately clear what the intended target was.
However, some Western media reports claimed the building was used by Iran’s IRGC commanders and Hezbollah forces.
In the past year, Israel has twice assassinated Iran’s IRGC advisors or commanders who had traveled to Syria at the Syrian government’s request.
