TEHRAN - Restoration work has commenced on the historical summer residence of Mohammad-Ali Eslami Nodoushan, who was a prominent Iranian literary figure, poet, and cultural critic.

The house, located in the Sadrabad region of Nodoushan, in Maybod county of Yazd province, central Iran, dates back to the late Qajar period and is considered a significant cultural landmark.

The restoration, which began on August 10, is expected to be completed in late October, CHTN reported on Tuesday.

It includes re-tiling the rooftop with mud and straw, re-paving the courtyard floors with brickwork, plastering the interior spaces, and repairing the yard’s exterior wall. A new wooden door is also being crafted as part of the renovations.

The project is being carried out under the supervision of the Meybod’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Office and is contracted to a local restoration team.

The residence, which is national heritage as well,  consists of two main sections: a southern building with a brick facade featuring an entrance porch and platforms on both sides, and a northern section with a garden of mature trees.

Eslami Nodoushan was one of the country’s influential contemporary literary figures, with around 70 books on culture, society, and literature to his name. His works covered a wide range of topics, from “Morality and Literature” to “Dialogue Among Civilizations.” He also lectured at 40 universities worldwide, with his talks published in English and French.

The restoration is aimed to preserve the legacy of this celebrated writer and provide a cultural hub for literary and historical enthusiasts.
