Enhancing relations with neighboring countries top priority: Iranian diplomat

TEHRAN- The political deputy of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, highlighted Iran's commitment to enhancing relations with its neighbors during a recent phone conversation with his Armenian counterpart. 

Majid Takht-Ravanchi shared on the social media platform X, “During my congratulatory call with Goostanian, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, I reiterated Iran's strong intention to bolster ties with all neighboring countries and reaffirmed Iran's steadfast stance on the sanctity of international borders. I was pleased to accept his invitation to visit Yerevan.”

Furthermore, the deputy foreign minister of Armenia conveyed in a message on X, “In our phone conversation, I congratulated Takht-Ravanchi on his recent appointment and expressed appreciation for Iran's support of Armenia's territorial integrity. We also discussed recent developments related to this matter.”

Iran and Armenia enjoy a strong and cooperative relationship, marked by warm diplomatic connections, strategic alliances, and mutual assistance on a range of matters. 

Two-nation diplomatic ties were formalized in 1992, coinciding with Armenia's emergence as an independent nation after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. 

The two countries work together in areas such as energy, transportation, and infrastructure enhancement. 

On the political front, Iran supports Armenia in its ongoing conflict with Azerbaijan regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Furthermore, Iran has reinforced its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and regional collaboration by establishing a consulate in Kapan, located in southeastern Armenia.
