TEHRAN- The Iranian ambassador to Vietnam, Ali Akbar Nazari, and Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Luang Tem Quang have emphasized the need to enhance collaboration in crime prevention efforts. 

During their meeting on Saturday, Nazari highlighted the mutual recognition of the significance of fulfilling existing agreements, facilitating delegation exchanges, and working together to address criminal activities. 

Nazari also took to social media to announce that Quang congratulated Iran on the successful presidential elections and the election of Masoud Pezeshkian as president, underscoring the potential for strengthening bilateral relations in alignment with national interests.

Additionally, both officials reaffirmed their dedication to implementing cooperation agreements focused on the exchange of delegations to effectively combat crime. 

Iran and Vietnam have established a collaborative relationship in crime prevention through various bilateral agreements and joint initiatives. Since 1979, both nations have formalized their commitment to combat transnational crime, addressing issues such as terrorism, drug trafficking, and money laundering. 

Vietnamese Law Enforcement has engaged in training sessions facilitated by Iranian Law Enforcement Forces (LEF), focusing on counter-terrorism and organized crime. Furthermore, the two countries have exchanged delegations of police and law enforcement personnel to deliberate on shared concerns, including the extradition of offenders and the transfer of inmates.
