Iran congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day

TEHRAN- Iran’s foreign ministry has extended congratulations to Ukraine on its Independence Day.

On Saturday, August 24, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its congratulations to the people and government of Ukraine on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day through a message shared on its X user account.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran congratulates the government and people of Ukraine on their Independence Day,” the message read.

Ukraine's Independence Day is observed every year on August 24, commemorating the moment in 1991 when Ukraine proclaimed its independence from the Soviet Union, following a failed coup in Moscow. This pivotal event holds profound significance for Ukrainians, representing the nation's sovereignty, cultural identity, and liberation after centuries of external domination.

The day is celebrated with a variety of events nationwide, including military parades, concerts, and cultural exhibitions.
