TEHRAN - Hamedan is set to celebrate its national day coinciding with Avicenna’s birth anniversary with a 15-day discount on hospitality services.

A local tourism official, speaking on Wednesday, announced a 15-day discount on hotel services, accommodation centers, dining and entertainment facilities, and souvenir shops within the province.

This initiative, aimed at celebrating Hamedan’s Day and the birth anniversary of Avicenna, is planned to run from August 22, according to Ali Khaksar.

Over 20 events are scheduled during this period, including a tribute ceremony for Avicenna conducted by local tour guides and a Hamedan awareness conference organized by heritage and tourism associations, he brought to light.

As revealed by the local officials, these events and discounts aim to honor the significant cultural and historical heritage of Hamedan and enhance the city’s appeal as a tourist destination.

Hamedan, one of Iran’s most historically significant cities, offers a wealth of tourism potential due to its deep cultural roots and diverse attractions.

Historically known as Hegmataneh (better known as Ecbatana in western sources), Hamedan was a prominent center during the Median Empire and later under the Achaemenids and Parthians.

The city is renowned for its ancient sites, including the UNESCO-listed Hegmataneh and the Ganjnameh inscriptions, which attract history enthusiasts.

In addition to its historical heritage, Hamedan is notable for its cultural landmarks, such as the Avicenna Mausoleum, dedicated to the celebrated Persian polymath.
