UNHCR praises Iran's commitment to refugee welfare

TEHRAN- The officer overseeing the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Iran has praised the nation for its generous hospitality towards refugees. 

Inna Gladkova, representing the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, noted that the UNHCR acknowledges the Islamic Republic for the healthcare services extended to refugees. 

She emphasized that Iran ranks among the largest host countries for refugees globally. 

Gladkova further mentioned that for the past forty years, the UNHCR has partnered with the Islamic Republic of Iran on various initiatives related to refugee welfare. 

She emphasized Iran's substantial initiatives in addressing hepatitis C, particularly in providing treatment for refugees.

Regarding education, all Afghan children in Iran have equal access to educational resources, comparable to those available to Iranian students.

As reported by the UN Refugees Agency, the Islamic Republic of Iran accommodates the largest refugee population globally, with 3.4 million individuals classified as refugees or in refugee-like circumstances. For over forty years, the nation has shown remarkable generosity in providing refuge to those in need.
