Iran denies US election meddling allegations

TEHRAN- The Iranian Permanent Mission to the United Nations has categorically dismissed allegations regarding Tehran's involvement in the 2024 US presidential election, labeling the claims as “unsubstantiated.”

As reported by the Iran’s foreign ministry, the Iranian mission released a statement on Monday evening, addressing inquiries related to assertions made by American intelligence and cyber agencies.

“The allegations lack foundation and are entirely unfounded. As previously stated, the Islamic Republic of Iran has neither the desire nor the motive to interfere in the US presidential election,” the statement asserted.

“If the US government genuinely believes in the accuracy of its claims, it should provide us with the relevant evidence so that we may respond appropriately,” it continued.

In a collaborative statement, the FBI and several other US intelligence agencies alleged that Iran was involved in hacking efforts targeting the campaign of Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election, as well as attempting to hack the campaign of Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate.

Last week, the Iranian mission in New York refuted a report from an American digital publication that claimed to possess documents regarding Iran’s involvement in hacking the Trump campaign.

“Iran itself is a victim of numerous cyber-attacks aimed at its infrastructure, public service sectors, and industries. The cyber capabilities of Iran are defensive and commensurate with the threats it encounters,” the Iranian mission clarified last Friday.

“Iran does not have any objectives or plans for a cyberattack. The American election is an internal matter for the United States, and Iran has no participation in it,” the statement from the Iranian mission further explained.

Recently, Iran’s permanent mission to the UN has issued multiple statements addressing claims that implicate the Islamic Republic of Iran in hacking related to the US election campaign or incidents during Trump’s rallies, denouncing those allegations as absurd, baseless, and biased.
