Army Ground Force mobilizes units to ensure security of pilgrims during Arbaeen
TEHRAN – The security of over 2 million Iranians traveling to Iraq for the Arbaeen pilgrimage will be ensured by the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces, according to Brigadier General Youssef Ghorbani, the deputy coordinator of the units.
The military official announced on Monday that multiple Army units will be deployed along Iran's southern and southwestern borders to guarantee security. Local reports show that inside Iraq, the Popular Mobilization Forces will be responsible for the protection of millions of pilgrims who are making their way toward the city of Karbala to commemorate the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS). Several groups of Iranians have already exited Iran’s southern borders for Karbala in the past few days.
During a visit to the Army’s regional headquarters in southwestern Iran, Ghorbani also highlighted the vital role of the Army's field hospital in providing medical services to the thousands of pilgrims making their way to honor Imam Hussein (AS). He praised the dedication of the Army personnel, stating, “The brave members of the Army's Ground Forces are continuously delivering worthy services to the pilgrims.”
The General emphasized that the Army was fully prepared to assist the Arbaeen pilgrims alongside other Iranian and Iraqi armed forces. “We are committed to ensuring that every pilgrim feels safe and supported during this important journey,” he said.
The field hospital at the Chazabeh border is equipped with a range of medical facilities, including operating rooms, laboratories, and radiology services. “Our experienced staff is ready to provide care in male and female wards, as well as offering air emergency services through our helicopter units,” Ghorbani added.
Highlighting the security arrangements, Ghorbani assured that “complete security for the pilgrims at the country's borders is ensured by the units of the Army's Ground Forces.” He reiterated that all subordinate units are on high alert to thwart any attempts that could disrupt the peace and safety of the Arbaeen pilgrims.
