TEHRAN – Officials from Iran and Turkmenistan have explored opportunities for enhancing scientific and technological collaborations and boosting the innovation ecosystem.

During a three-day meeting which was held in Khorasan Razavi province’s science and technology park, the Turkmen officials stated these collaborations could help develop new technologies and enhance the scientific capabilities of the two countries, ISNA reported.

“The capabilities of Khorasan Science and Technology Park in petrochemical, electronic, and other fields have made us interested in cooperating with the center in the field of innovation and technology,” they highlighted.

The officials went on to ask for signing memorandums of understanding between Oguz han University of Turkmenistan and Khorasan Science and Technology Park to strengthen scientific, research, and technological cooperation as well as share expertise and experiences between the two countries.

For his part, the vice-president of Khorasan Science and Technology Park, Ali Esmaili, said the main goal of the meeting is to review potential avenues for expanding cooperation and fostering the innovation ecosystem and its growth.

Due to the vicinity of the two countries and common needs, it is possible to cooperate in various fields, he noted.

“By integrating existing resources, energy, and networks, extraordinary opportunities for technological advancement will be created for the two countries.

The two countries can also conduct joint research projects and launch start-ups to achieve their goals,” Esmaeili added.

The presence of a strong network in the innovation system is crucial for fostering technology. The innovation network of Iran and Turkmenistan can develop cutting-edge technologies together.

Establishing innovation and technology development centers, holding joint workshops, and inviting investors in the field from the two countries are among the other main goals of cooperation.
