Iran, Armenia officials discuss expansion of bilateral ties
TEHRAN- The Iranian ambassador to Armenia engaged in discussions regarding regional developments and the enhancement of bilateral relations with Armenia's deputy prime minister.
Mehdi Sobhani met with Armenia’s deputy prime minister, Mher Grigoryan, to address various significant issues in the relationship between Iran and Armenia. The dialogue included considerations for strengthening cooperation between the two nations within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
During this meeting, both officials shared insights on current regional developments.
Previously, Iran and Armenia formalized an agreement to extend the duration of their existing contract, which facilitates the export of natural gas from Tehran to Yerevan in exchange for electricity, now set to continue until 2030.
The updated agreement stipulates that Iran will increase its gas supply to Armenia in return for electricity from the landlocked nation in the Caucasus region.
