Pezeshkian calls for multipolar world order, criticizes U.S. policies
TEHRAN– The Iranian president emphasized the urgent need to establish a multipolar world order, criticizing U.S. policies and actions that pressure countries like Iran and seek to strip them of their rights and benefits.
In a phone conversation with European Council President Charles Michel on Sunday, Masoud Pezeshkian described these efforts as an attempt by the U.S. to block the emergence of a new global order, thereby hindering global peace and stability.
During the call, Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's long-standing commitment to global peace, stability, and tranquility for all nations, stressing that any process threatening these values must be halted.
He criticized the U.S. and some Western countries for applying double standards, which, as he argued, have emboldened the Zionist regime to commit horrific acts of terror and violence in Gaza, further endangering regional and global security.
Pezeshkian, responding to Michel's interest in reviving nuclear agreement talks, emphasized that mutual trust and the safeguarding of reciprocal benefits are crucial to any successful agreement. He added that if both parties honor their commitments and rebuild trust, it would open the door to discussing other issues as well.
The President of the European Council expressed hope for renewed and effective engagement between Iran and the European Union, based on mutual benefit. Michel also highlighted the desire of European countries to enhance their relations with Iran.
