144km freeways to go operational in Iran by late Mar. 2025
TEHRAN – Iranian Transport and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash has said 144 kilometers of freeways are going to be put into operation by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2025), Mehr News Agency reported.
Bazrpash made the announcement in a post on his social media, noting that the mentioned projects are going to be part of the Iran Way initiative.
Back in January, the deputy head of Iran's Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC) said the company is able to construct 200 kilometers of freeways across the country if the necessary funding is provided.
According to Mahmoud Mollazeynal, CDTIC is going to need 100 trillion rials (about $200 million) to complete the mentioned freeways in the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 20).
Iranian Transport and Urban Development Ministry has constructed over 2,100 kilometers of ways including highways, freeways and main roads across the country over the past two years.
