TEHRAN – The spokesperson for Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee on Sunday revealed insights from a high-ranking Quds Force official regarding the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, emphasizing that the assassination was not the result of an infiltration.

The committee convened for its second meeting to deliberate on Haniyeh's assassination. 

Present at the meeting were key figures including the deputy intelligence chief of the Quds Force, the deputy intelligence minister for security affairs, the IRGC deputy chief for parliamentary affairs, and the chief the Intelligence Ministry Department in charge of legal and Parliamentary Affairs.
 
During the session, Ebrahim Rezaei, the committee spokesperson, reported that the Quds Force Deputy provided a thorough analysis of the regional impact following Al-Aqsa Storm Operation on October 7 of the last year. The official characterized this operation as a major strategic advancement for the Resistance Front, claiming it has significantly accelerated the potential downfall of the Israeli regime.

According to the Quds Force Deputy, this operation has posed an unprecedented threat to the existence and identity of the Israeli regime. The Deputy also noted that the Israeli regime is now closer to collapse, facing defeat as it has failed to achieve its recent objectives and has been weakened by a prolonged conflict.

Rezaei shared that the Deputy highlighted the regime's unsuccessful attempts to meet its goals, including securing the return of prisoners and dismantling Hamas. He also reported that at least 200,000 Israelis have been displaced due to Al-Aqsa Storm Operation, prompting the Israeli regime to resort to assassination attempts in an effort to shift the narrative following its setbacks in Gaza.

The spokesperson reiterated that the ongoing investigation into Haniyeh’s death is thorough and requires time for detailed examination.

In addition to the discussion on Haniyeh’s assassination, the Iranian Parliament held a closed-door session chaired by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. During this session, the Speaker and several parliamentarians provided updates on the ongoing investigations and discussed other parliamentary matters, including welfare provisions for members of the legislative body.
