TEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, issued a stern warning to Israel, calling on them to refrain from any "adventurism" against Lebanon using the Saturday attack on Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights as an excuse. 

"After ten months of mass slaughter in the Gaza Strip and the massacre of Palestinian women and children, the apartheid Israeli regime is seeking to mislead the public opinion with a forged scenario to distract the world’s attention from the crimes it commits on a large scale in Palestine," Kanaani stated on Sunday. He emphasized that Hezbollah, Lebanon's resistance movement, and top Lebanese officials have all denied any involvement in the Majdal Shams attacks.

"The Zionist regime does not have the minimum moral authority to opine or judge the incident in the Majdal Shams region, and the regime’s claims about others will not be heeded," Kanaani added. 

He further noted the responsibility of the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to safeguard Lebanon's and the region's stability and security in the face of Israel's aggression. 

"Any stupid measure by the Zionist regime can lead to the expansion of the scope of instability, insecurity, and the flames of war in the region. In that case, the mentioned regime will be definitively responsible for the unpredicted repercussions and reactions to the stupid behavior," Kanaani warned.

Kanaani also addressed the U.S. administration, urging them to fulfill their "international and moral duties" by advocating for global peace and security. He condemned the U.S. for continually arming Israel with weapons of mass destruction and "putting the regime's criminal prime minister on a pedestal" after months of atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. "The U.S. should bar the Zionist regime from starting a new fire," he advised.

Israel claims Hezbollah was responsible for Saturday's deadly attack in the occupied Golan Heights that resulted in the deaths of 10 people. The regime reported airstrikes on Sunday targeting Hezbollah weapons depots and infrastructure in the Bekaa Valley, Shabriha, and Burj el-Shemali near Tyre, and villages like Kafr Lila, Rab el-Thalathine, Khiam and Tayr Harfa. 

Hezbollah has "categorically denied" any involvement in the attack. Reports have emerged suggesting a failed Israeli interceptor missile has most probably caused the incident.
