TEHRAN - Kish Island is set to host the World Bodybuilding Championships 2024 in late September, an event expected to highlight the island’s tourism capabilities on the international stage.

Rahim Sarhangi, the CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization, highlighted the significance of hosting the Championship on Kish Island as a valuable opportunity to showcase the island’s tourism potential on a global stage, during a meeting with the president of the National Bodybuilding Federation, on Sunday.

“We are fully prepared to host the World Bodybuilding Championships in a grand and professional manner,” the CEO stated, highlighting the readiness of the Island to provide the necessary infrastructure and create an appropriate urban environment for the event.

Sarhangi underscored the importance of producing high-quality and attractive content to promote Kish’s tourist attractions globally, in cooperation with the Bodybuilding Federation.

The remaining time before the event and the days of hosting international athletes, he added, offer a valuable opportunity to showcase Kish’s investment potentials and its appeal as a desirable tourist destination on the global stage.

“We have inspected the hotels designated for the athletes’ accommodation,” Abdolmahdi Nasirzadeh, the president of the National Bodybuilding Federation noted, adding that Kish has the necessary infrastructure to host international competitions.

Over 200 countries, he further elaborated, are members of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, with around 60 countries already expressing their intention to participate in the Kish World Championships.

The World Bodybuilding Championship is scheduled to take place on Kish Island from September 23 to 28, featuring top international bodybuilding athletes.
