Qajar-era coins recovered in Delfan

TEHRAN - In a crackdown on illegal antiquities trade, Lorestan’s authorities have uncovered a collection of historical coins in Delfan county, according to a local official in charge of cultural heritage preservation.

In a coordinated effort between the provincial police and the cultural heritage preservation unit, a search of a private residence led to the recovery of 46 coins, all of which date back to the Qajar era, Ali Qadami highlighted.

One individual, he further explained, was apprehended in connection with the case. This suspect subsequently referred to the judicial authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings, the official added.

He emphasized that over the past six months, the cultural heritage preservation unit of Lorestan, has implemented a series of effective measures aimed at curbing the activities of antique smugglers, particularly focused in Delfan county.
