Iran condemns Israeli strikes on Yemen, warns of escalation

TEHRAN – Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has strongly condemned the Israeli regime's deadly attacks on western Yemen, warning that such aggression risks exacerbating the already dire situation in the region.

"The aggression bespeaks the child-killing Israeli regime's aggressive nature," Kanaani said on Saturday, hours after Israeli warplanes targeted civilian buildings, oil facilities, and a power station in Yemen's al-Hudaydah province. "Such dangerous adventurism on the part of Tel Aviv could escalate tensions and fuel the flames of war in the region."

Reports show that so far six people have died as a result of the regime’s strikes, with dozens of people left injured.

Yemen’s armed forces have been targeting Israeli-occupied territories, ships, and vessels since October 7th, when Zionists launched a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip. The Israeli attack on Yemeni soil came a day after the Arab country managed to fly a drone inside the occupied territories and hit a building at the heart of Tel Aviv. The operation came as a shock to analysts and Israeli settlers, who questioned how the drone managed to travel over 1700 Kilometers without getting detected.

Kanaani said the Israeli regime's attacks on Yemen were intended to punish the Yemeni people for their support for innocent Palestinian civilians.

"By attacking Yemen, the regime is seeking to exact a toll on the oppressed but strong Yemeni people," he said.

Kanaani attributed the current regional tensions to the perpetuation of the Israeli massacres and siege in Gaza. He asserted that "the region would not get to experience calm again as long as the regime continued its violations against the coastal sliver."

"The Zionist regime and its supporters, including the United States, are directly responsible for the dangerous and unpredictable repercussions that could follow the perpetuation of violations against Gaza and adventuristic attacks on Yemen," the spokesman concluded.

Yemen has vowed to respond to Israel’s Saturday aggression, adding it will not cease its attacks in support of Palestinians until the regime ends its brutal war in Gaza. Over 38,000 Gazans have lost their lives during Israeli attacks in the past 9 months. The entirety of the enclave has also been razed to the ground, with people struggling to access food and water due to a siege inflicted by the regime.
