TEHRAN- The first supervisory session of the National Security Committee of the Parliament was held on Thursday with the participation of deputy speaker of Parliament for laws and representatives from the ministries of Intelligence and Defense.

The meeting took place in the shrine city of Mashhad. 

As reported by Tasnim News, Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, chaired the session. Its purpose was to establish policies, strategies, and a cohesive plan for the National Security Committee, ensuring better coordination among the members of the Parliament.

Azizi emphasized aligning actions with parliamentary plans and laws, considering national, regional, and international conditions. He stressed the necessity of a structured framework for the Committee, which requires coordination with the ministries of Intelligence and Defense.

The Committee’s head also highlighted the significance of planning to define the framework of the National Security Committee in light of the formation of the fourteenth government.

He mentioned the presence of Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, in the session and added, “The head of the Atomic Energy Organization presented a detailed report on the organization's performance over the past three years in today's meeting. Also, The Strategic Action law for removal of sanctions, approved by the Parliament in 2020, contributed to the Atomic Energy Organization’s stronger momentum against U.S. maximum pressure.”

Concluding the session, Committee members discussed the internal regulations of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament and proposed amendments to its laws.
