Gilan records 26 million overnight stays in Q1
TEHRAN – Gilan province, one of the most sought-after travel destinations in Iran, has recorded some 26 million overnight stays throughout the first quarter of current Persian year (started on March 20), a local official announced.
Such a figure marks a 17 percent increase compared to the same period last year, said Gilan’s director-general of cultural heritage, tourism, and handicrafts.
Shedding light on the numbers, Vali Jahani noted that both certified and temporary lodgings received travelers with open arms.
Gilan province in northern Iran, along the Caspian Sea, is known for its lush landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and status as a tourism hub. It features coastal plains, forests, and the Alborz mountains, with a mild, humid climate.
Gilan with its abundant of tourist attractions and warm-hearted and hospitable people, has long been a weekend escape for residents of Tehran who are looking for a place of tranquility.
