Iran imports over 2m cellphones in Q1

TEHRAN - The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said 2,049,279 cellphone handsets, valued at $527,509 million, were imported into the country in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20–June 20), IRNA reported.

In this period, more than 1,950,483 mobile handsets were imported through the commercial method while 98,976 of the cellphone handsets were imported by passengers, it reported.

According to IRICA, the cell phones imported in this period registered a 27 percent and 11 percent reduction in volume and value, respectively.

Back on December 30, the president of IRICA said that more than 10 million cellphone handsets, valued at $2.2 billion, had been imported in the first nine months of that year, which started in March 2023.
